HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011_09_13_Attempted Murder Arrest BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police For Immediate Release September 13, 2011 On 9/13/11, at about 10:00 a.m., Bakersfield Police Homicide detectives arrested Gregory William Starling 46, for last night’s attempted murder of Marcus Von Williams 38, in the parking lot of the Royal Palms Motel, 200 Union Avenue. Starling will be booked into the Kern County Jail on a Ramey warrant charging attempted murder, and a parole violation hold. Original Release September 13, 2011 On 09/12/2011 at 11:27 PM officers of the Bakersfield Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot of the Royal Palms motel, 200 Union Avenue, to a report of a victim of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located an adult male down in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound to his neck. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he is being treated for life threatening injuries. Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.
