For Immediate Release September 14, 2011
Saturday, September 17, 2011, the Bakersfield Police Department and California
Highway Patrol would like to invite the community to have their children’s car seats
checked for correct installation, defects and/or recalls. This free event will take place in
the Target parking lot located at 3401 Mall View Road from 10am to 1pm. Participants
must have a child restraint system in order to have a child restraint checked.
The current statistics show well over 90% of child restraint systems are either incorrectly
installed or incorrectly utilized. This is an especially alarming rate considering the
number one cause of unintentional injury and death to children result from vehicle
collisions.
