PRESS RELEASE
Greg Williamson, Chief of Police
For Immediate Release October 20, 2011
The investigation into the shooting deaths of Efrem Wandick and David Lyons at the
Central Cali Market and Grocery on 10/18/11 is still ongoing. Several factors have
slowed the flow of information including inaccurate rumors, injuries and a language
barrier. Although basic information has been forthcoming, it has to be accurately
interpreted. Investigators are working with the District Attorney’s office to locate a court
certified interpreter before continuing with those interviews.
Investigators are also aware of additional unidentified witnesses who were present
during the incident and are requesting those individuals come forward. Anyone with
information is urged to call Detective Jeff Saso at 326-3535 or the Secret Witness
Hotline at 322-4040.
We understand emotions are running high regarding the situation and are asking the
community in the area to be patient with the pace of the investigation.
