AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2.04.010,
SUBSECTIONS B AND C OF SECTION 2.04.070, AND
SUBSECTION A, PARAGRAPH 7 OF SECTION 2.04.110
OF THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
COUNCIL MEETINGS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 2.04.010 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
2.04.010 Time and place
The regular meetings of the city council shall begin at five fifteen p.m. in the council
chambers of City Hall, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, on such days as are set annually
by resolution of the city council. Workshop meetings, closed sessions, as authorized by
the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code Section 54950 et seq.), public statements
dealing with agenda items, consent calendar items, reports, and deferred business, may
be held at five fifteen p.m. as part of any regular or special meeting of the council, provided
the same appear on the agenda for such meeting. Agenda items not completed or not
addressed at the portion of the meeting beginning at five fifteen p.m., shall be addressed
at that portion of the meeting beginning at seven p.m.
SECTION 2.
Subsections B and C of Section 2.04.070 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
2.04.070 Order of business
B. Depending on the work load for each meeting, the order of business set forth
in paragraph A may be changed by the city manager prior to the posting of the agenda to
allow for a smooth and orderly flow of business during the meeting.
C. Changes in the order of business at the noticed meeting can be
accomplished by five affirmative votes of the council.

SECTION 3.
Subsection A, paragraph 7 of Section 2.04.110 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code
is hereby deleted in its entirety.
2.04.110 Hearings
SECTION 4.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the provisions of the Bakersfield
Municipal Code and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after the date of its
passage.
