A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR 2-5 YEAR-
OLDS CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED
THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES
AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR
TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFOR AND
PURCHASE AND INSTALL PLAYGROUND
EQUIPMENT FOR 2-5 YEAR-OLDS FROM GREAT
WESTERN PARK & PLAYGROUND, NOT TO
EXCEED $75,000.00.
WHEREAS, CITY recently completed the installation of a playground for 5-12
year-olds at Greystone Park; and
WHEREAS, CITY desires the design, supply, and installation of an additional
playground for toddlers, ages 2-5, which was not part of the original playground
install; and
WHEREAS, CITY desires a playground for 2-5 year-olds to integrate with the
existing 5-12 year-old playground's theme, color scheme, and compatibility with
the original supplier and installer; and
WHEREAS, CITY contacted the original supplier and installer, Great Western
Park & Playground, to design, supply and install the playground for 2-5 year-olds;
and
WHEREAS, Great Western Park & Playground is the only installer that can
completely integrate the existing theme, color scheme, and compatibility of the 2-
5 year-old playground to the 5-12 year old playground at Greystone Park; and
WHEREAS, the playground for 2-5 year-olds, to be provided by Great Western
Park & Playground, will integrate with the existing theme, color scheme, and
compatibility with the playground for 5-12 year-olds at Greystone Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The design, supply, and installation can only be reasonably obtained
from Great Western Park & Playground because of the need to successfully
integrate such work, supplies, equipment or materials into the existing playgroun(4eAK4 9~
for 5-12 year-olds at Greystone Park.

3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in
accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
4. The expenditure of funds for said work, supplies, equipment or material
shall not exceed Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00).

HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held
on JAN 1 1 2012 , by the following vote:
