Fatal Traffic Accident
At 6:28 PM on December 21, 2011 Bakersfield Police Officers responded to a traffic accident
involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of White Lane and Gosford Road.
Investigation revealed that a Ford Excursion, making a right turn from northbound Gosford Road
onto eastbound White Lane, struck an adult female pedestrian, who was walking eastbound in
the crosswalk on the south side of the intersection.
The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she later succumbed to
her injuries. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The driver of the Ford Excursion, Carlos Cordero, 31, of Bakersfield, was contacted by officers
at the scene. There was no indication that Cordero’s driving was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
