PRESS RELEASE
At about 1:28 pm officers were dispatched to the Gurdwara Sikh Temple at 8100 Stine Rd for a
report of shots fired. Upon arrival officers were given information a male subject had been shot
at and that the gunman was standing just inside the temple where a wedding crowd of
approximately 150 people had just been dismissed. As officers continued to arrive, the victim,
a 34 year old male, approached officers and pointed to the suspect who was now standing in the
parking lot. Officers approached the suspect, identified as Hardial Singh, age 34, and saw a
handgun protruding from his waistband. Singh was taken into the custody without incident and
.380 caliber handgun was seized from his waistband.
Investigation revealed that an argument began inside the temple between Singh and the victim
which then escalated and moved outside. At some point during the argument Singh pulled a
handgun from his waistband and fired a single round at the victim which missed and struck the
ground at the victim’s feet. Singh was subsequently arrested for violation of assault with a
deadly weapon.
