The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in locating
a suspect wanted for murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.
On Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 1:08 AM, Bakersfield Police Officers were dispatched
to the 6000 block of Alberta Street in regards to a report of gunshots and a victim of a
shooting. Upon arrival officers located a large party and an adult male suffering from
gunshot wounds.
The investigation revealed that a fight had broken out at a party. During the course of
the fight the victim was shot. Medical aid responded to the scene; however, the victim
had sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Meanwhile,
a second victim identified as Anthony James (29) of Bakersfield had been transported
by private means to Kern Medical Center. The investigation revealed that Anthony
James had been shot one time during the same fight and sustained minor injuries. He
currently is listed in stable condition.
It is believed that this incident is gang related.
The identity of the murder victim is being withheld pending release by the Kern County
Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is
