On 1/9/12, at 10:25a.m., a witness reported a burglary in progress in the 4200 block of
Kaytlain Avenue wherein two suspects occupying maroon Honda parked in front of a
neighbor’s residence. One of the suspects approached the house and kicked open the
front door. The suspect driving the Honda drove away but returned with two
passengers. The suspect who had kicked open the door ran from the house empty
handed and they all fled together in the Honda, throwing property out the car window as
they went. Officers located the car a within minutes and pursued it to the area of South
Real Road and Truman Avenue where all four suspects got out and ran. Two suspects
were arrested a short distance from the car, Alejandro Rodriguez 18 and Ruben Ortega
18. Rodriguez resisted arrest and a Taser was utilized to affect his arrest. The other two
suspects, both 17 year old males, were located after a yard to yard search in the 3500
block of Eisenhower Street, one of the juveniles also resisted arrest.
The discarded property was determined to be taken from another residential burglary.
All four suspects were arrested for 2 counts burglary, 2 counts possession of stolen
property, conspiracy and resisting arrest. Rodriguez was additionally charged with
evading.
