February 3, 2012
On Wednesday, February 2nd, 2012 between 0900-1500 hours the
Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail conducted a
speed enforcement patrol in the greater Bakersfield area. A total of 6
additional motor officers monitored several areas within the City which have
had repeated speeding violations. These locations included:
• Allen Rd (construction site)
• Stockdale Hwy (Gosford Rd to California Ave)
• Ming Ave (Gosford Rd to Wible Rd)
• 23rd/24th St (Oak St to M St)
• Hageman Rd (near Centennial High School)
As a result of this enforcement effort, Traffic Officers issued a total of 98
citations (76 for unsafe speed, 7 for drivers not utilizing hands free devices,
2 red light violations, 2 for suspended license, and 1 warrant arrest).
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office
of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by
calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
