BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Wednesday, February 8, 2012 between 06:00 a.m. and10:00 a.m. the
Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail conducted a speed
enforcement patrol in the greater Bakersfield area. A total of 6 additional motor
officers monitored several areas within the City for drivers who failed to stop at
red lights.
As a result of this enforcement effort, Traffic Officers issued a total of 49 citations
(46 for red light violations, 3 for miscellaneous vehicle code violations). Three of
these drivers were found to be driving on suspended licenses, one was found to
have never been issued a driver’s license, and these drivers’ vehicles were
impounded.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of
Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The
public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a
suspected impaired driver.
