For Immediate Release February 15, 2012 The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a person of interest related to the fatal hit and run collision involving Gregory Paul King on 1/12/11. Investigators were contacted by an individual who thought the person depicted in the attached video surveillance photo had a peculiar reaction to a flier posted depicting the suspect vehicle. So much so that investigators would like to identify and contact this person. The vehicle he was operating also matches the description of the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision. Anyone with information related to the identity of this person of interest is encouraged to call the Bakersfield Police Hit and Run Office at 326-3967. Secret Witness Release January 18, 2012 The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward of up to $5000.00 for information leading to the arrest and filing of a complaint against the person responsible for the fatal hit and run collision which killed Gregory Paul King on December 12, 2011, at about 8:00 p.m. in the 900 block of Panama Lane. King was walking southbound across Panama Lane when he was struck by a motorist traveling eastbound. A vehicle of interest seen in the area of the fatal hit and run on Panama Lane east of Monitor Street at 8:00 p.m., on Monday night. The vehicle appears to be a dark colored GMC or Chevrolet extended cab possibly having a tool box in the bed. The vehicle should have front end damage specifically in the area of the headlamp assembly. It is depicted on the street behind the parked white truck in the convenience store parking lot Anyone with information regarding this truck is asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111. XXXX XXXX XXXX Original Release December 13, 2011 On Monday, December 12, 2011, at about 8:00 p.m., Officers responded to the 900 Blk of Panama Ln. regarding an injury traffic collision, involving a pedestrian. On arrival, Officers discovered an adult male, appearing to be in his mid 40’s lying in the roadway. It appears the victim was crossing Panama Ln. S/B, outside a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling E/B on Panama Lane. The vehicle and driver fled the scene prior to police arrival.
