NEWS RELEASE
February 22, 2012
On Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at about 6:46 PM Officers responded to the intersection of
Cottonwood Rd. and E. White Ln. concerning an injury, rollover collision.
Investigation revealed a maroon Ford/F150 truck was being driven northbound on
Cottonwood Rd. by Maria Delacruz Ramirez 29, of Bakersfield when her vehicle was
broadsided by a maroon Chrysler/Sebring which was being driven eastbound on E. White
Ln. by Juan Moreno 69. Officers were able to determine Moreno failed to stop for a posted
stop sign at the intersection of E. White Ln. and Cottonwood Rd.
Ramirez, an unrestrained juvenile male in her vehicle, and Moreno all sustained minor
injuries as a result of the collision and were transported to Kern Medical Center for
treatment.
Officers determined that Moreno was impaired by alcohol at the time of the collision. He
will be arrested and booked at the Kern County Main Jail for felony DUI upon his release
from Kern Medical Center.
Ramirez was found to be driving without a valid California driver’s license at the time of
the collision. She will be cited for being an unlicensed driver and for allowing an
unrestrained juvenile to ride in her vehicle.
