For Immediate Release February 24, 2012
The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the communities’ assistance in identifying a suspect
wanted for possible sexual assault. The 17 year old female victim reported she was walking in the 3600
block of Ridgemont Street on Monday night, 2/20/12, when she was grabbed from behind by a male
suspect. The victim was wearing audio head phones and did not hear the suspect approach and initially
thought it might be someone she knew. As she struggled to turn and face the man, she realized it was a
stranger and she felt as if his movements suggested his intentions were to kiss her. The victim screamed
and the suspect ran. As she continued home, she was approached from behind by a moving vehicle on
the street and as it passed the driver extended his hand and swatted her on the buttocks. The victim felt,
given the circumstances, that it was the same suspect. She described the suspect as a Caucasian male
in his thirties, 5’10” tall, 200 pounds, wearing a black sweater and blue jeans. She described the
passing vehicle as a white older model Nissan four door, similar to an Altima. The suspect’s image is
depicted in the attached computer generated composite.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is encouraged to call
Detective Keli Reed at 326-3544.
