For Immediate Release February 27, 2012
On 2/24/12, at about 11:00 p.m., Bakersfield Police detectives arrested Saul Noe Lopez
31, for unlawful sexual intercourse with a juvenile. Lopez is a Community Specialist and
coach for Miramonte High School, 1800 South Fairfax Road. The investigation began
with the Kern High School District Police on Friday, 2/23/12, when a local store clerk
reported to them a school employee, operating a Kern High School District van, had
purchased condoms at her store and there was an apparent teen aged girl in the van
with him. Further investigation on behalf of the KHSD Police led to the identification
Lopez as the individual who purchased the condoms and the identification of a 16 year
old female victim/student. At that point, the investigation was handed over to the
Bakersfield Police Department because of the type of crime. Further investigation
determined Lopez transported the student from the campus to his home where the act
took place. Lopez was arrested on 2/24/12, and booked into the Kern County Jail.
Follow up investigation continued Monday and no other students have been identified
as victims of similar acts. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is
encouraged to call Detective Menendez at 326-3559.
