On Monday March 5, 2012, at approximately 1459 hours officers of the
Bakersfield Police Department were dispatched to the area of South H Street and
Southgate Drive regarding a collision involving a vehicle versus a man in a
wheelchair.
The vehicle was traveling southbound South H Street in the number two lane
when the vehicle struck the male subject in the wheel chair who was also
traveling southbound in the shoulder of the number two lane.
The male subject in the wheel chair was transported to a local hospital with major
injuries where he was pronounced deceased.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
