On Sunday, February 26th, 2012 and Sunday March 4th, 2012 the Bakersfield Police Department
conducted Warrant Sweep Operations in the greater Bakersfield area. Members of the
Bakersfield Police Department conducted the operation in an attempt to arrest outstanding DUI
warrant suspects.
Teams attempted service on 18 outstanding warrants resulting in 4 arrests.
These operations were part of a series of enforcement and education efforts throughout the
year that the Bakersfield Police Department will conduct in an effort to reduce the number of
persons injured or killed each year in DUI related collisions. A major component of this
enforcement event is to increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and to
encourage sober, designated, licensed drivers.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety
(OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The public is
encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
