ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 17.08.130 OF THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
ACCESSORY BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION I.
Section 17.08.130 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
17.08.130 Accessory buildings.
A. Accessory buildings or structures may be located within an interior
side or rear yard area in any residential zone district or project of a residential
nature provided they do not exceed a height of seven feet and /or an area of
one - hundred twenty square feet.
B. Accessory buildings or structures exceeding a height of seven feet
and /or an area of one - hundred twenty square feet in any residential zone
district or project of a residential nature, shall not be located nearer than five
feet to any interior side or rear property line.
C. Accessory buildings and structures in commercial and industrial
zone districts shall be subject to all development standards of that zone district.
D. No accessory buildings or structures shall be located within any
required street side yard or front yard area. Fountains, ponds and other
decorative water features, and garden /art decorations are exempt from this
subsection provided that they do not exceed a height of six feet. Flag poles are
also exempt and are subject to the regulations in subsection B of Section
17.08.110.
SECTION 2.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the provisions of the
Bakersfield Municipal Code and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and
after the date of its passage.
