The Bakersfield Police Department and the Kern County Sheriff’s
Department Joint Vice Task Force (JVTF) conducted an operation to prevent
adults from selling or furnishing alcohol to minors.
On 5-14-12, the Bakersfield Police Department and the Kern County Sheriff’s Department
Joint Vice Task Force (JVTF) conducted a “Shoulder Tap” operation in the City of
Bakersfield.
This operation used two underage decoys to contact patrons of ABC licensed locations.
The decoys asked the patrons to purchase alcohol for them and provided money to the
patron for the purchase. Two ABC licensed locations were visited with forty five contacts,
one arrest for B&P 25658a, (selling or furnishing alcohol to minors) was made.
Funding for this operation was provided by the California Department of Alcoholic
Beverage Control (ABC) Grant Assistance Program.
