BE IT Rh6OLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAi ER:FIBLD,
as follows:
That it is the intention of the City Council of the City
of Bakersfield to order the following work to be done and improve-
ment to be made in said City, to -wit:
That the alley running easterly and westerly through Block
266, City of Bakersfield., be diminished to a uniform width of twenty
(20) feet, and the remaining portions of said alley be vacated and
closed.
The lands necessary and convenient to be abandoned and
vacated for said purpose are described as follows:
(a) Beginning at a point in the westerly line of R Street
115.5 feet southerly from the southerly line of 18th Street and
running thence westerly and parallel with the southerly line of 18th
Street to the easterly line of q Street; thence southerly along the
easterly line of 4 Street 6.5 feet; thence easterly and parallel with
the southerly line of 18th Street to the westerly line of R Street;
thence northerly along the westerly line of R Street 6.5 feet to the
point of beginning.
(b) Beginning at a point in the westerly line of R Street
115.5 feet northerly from the northerly line of 17th Street, and
running thence westerly and parallel with the northerly line of 17th
Street to the easterly line of,Q Street; thence northerly along the
easterly line of 4 Street 6.5 feet; thence easterly and parallel with
the northerly line of 17th Street to the westerly line of R Street;
thence southerly along the westerly line of R Street 6.5 feet to the
point of beginning.
The district of land to be affected or benefited by said work

or improvement is described as follows:
All of Block 266, City of Bakersfield., as shown on that
certain map entitled "Map of the City of Bakersfield, Kern County,
California" filed in the office of the County Recorder of Kern County,
November 25, 1898.
All of the herein proposed work and improvement shall be
done in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California,
entitled KAN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LAYING OUT, OPENING, EXTENDING,
WIDENING, STRAIGHTENING, OR CLOSING UP IN WHOLE OR IN PAIT ANY STREET,
SQUARE, LANE, ALLEY, COURT OR PLACE WITEIN :UNICIPALITI.E3 AND TO
ONDEMN AND ACQUIhh ANY AND ALL LAND NECESSARY OR CONVLNIENT FOR
Thl T iURPOSE" approved March 6th, 1889, and the several acts
amendatory thereof or supplemental thereto.
The The Bakersfield Californian is hereby designated as the
daily newspaper published and circulated in said City in which the
Street Superintendent's notice of the passage of this Resolution shall
be published.
