NO. 688
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
ORDER THE VACATION OF AN ALLEY IN BLOCK 168
IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
The Council of the City of Bakersfield, California, pursuant
to the provisions of the "Street Vacation Act of 1941," being Divi-
sion 9 of the Streets and highways Code of the State of California,
does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1: That it is the intention of the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, California, to order the vacation of an alley
within said City, described as follows, to wit:
All of that certain alley extending northerly
and southerly through Block 168 in the City
of Bakersfield, California, as said alley is
more particularly described in a deed of convey-
ance from the Kern County .Land Company, a cor-
poration, duly organized and existing under and
by virtue of the laws of the State of California,
to the City of Bakersfield, California, dated
July 24, 1914, and filed for record in the office
of the County Recorder of Kern County, California,
on July 30, 1914, on Page 292 in Book 292 of Deeds.
reserving and excepting from said vacation, the permanent easement
and right at any time, or from time to time, to construct, maintain,
operate, replace, remove, and renew sanitary sewers and storm drains
and appurtenant structures, and pursuant to any existing franchises
or renewals thereof, or otherwise, to construct, maintain, operate,
replace, remove, renew and enlarge lines of pipe, conduits, cables,
wires, poles, and other convenient structures, equipment and fixtures
for the operation of gas pipe lines, telegraphic and telephone lines,
railroad lines, and for the transportation or distribution of electric
energy, petroleum and its products, ammonia, water, and incidental
purposes, including access and the right to keep the property free

from inflammable materials, and wood growth, and otherwise protect
the same from all hazards in, upon and over said alley proposed to
be vacated.
That it is determined by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
that the public convenience and necessity require the reservation of
said easements and the proceedings hereunder are taken subject to
such reservations and exceptions.
For further particulars as to the proposed vacation, reference
is hereby made to a map on file in the office of the City Clerk of
the City of Bakersfield, in the City Hall, Bakersfield, California.
Section 2: That the hour of 8 ofelock P.M., of the 9th day
of July, 1951, in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Bakersfield,
California, be and the same is hereby fixed as the time and place
when and where all persons interested in or objecting to the proposed
vacation may appear before the Council and offer evidence in relation
thereto.
Section 3: That the Superintendent of Streets of the City
of Bakersfield, California, be and he is hereby directed to cause
"Notice of Street Vacation" to be posted as required by the said
"Street Vacation Act of 1941," being Division 9 of the Streets and
HiF,?�ways Code of the State of California; and the Council of said
City hereby elects to proceed under the provisions of said Act.
Section l�: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this Resolution, and shall cause the same to be posted on the bulletin
board at the City Hall of said City within fifteen (15) days after
its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 18th day of June, 1951, by the follow-
ing note:
