RESOLUTION N0. ' am
IN THE MATTER OF THE IMPROVEMENT OF LAGUNA SQUARE.
PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION OF THE LEGISLATIVE BODY
UNDER "SPECIAL ASSESSMENT INVESTIGATION LIMITATION
AND MAJORITY PROTEST ACT OF 1931 ".
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakers-
field that certain improvements are proposed to be done and
made within the boundaries of the proposed assessment district
hereinafter described. In connection therewith the Council
hereby finds and determines to -wit:
1. That the nature of the proposed improvement consists of
the construction of cement concrete gutters and 1023.59' of
cement concrete storm drain with 7 catch basins.
2. The location and extent of the proposed improvement will
involve the construction of the above described improvements
upon the following described public streets and public rights
of way within the boundaries of the proposed assessment district
hereinafter described to -wit:
Second Street, between Oleander Avenue and H Street
Verde Street, between Oleander Avenue and H Street
First Street, between Oleander Avenue and H Street
Brundage Lane, between Oleander Avenue and H Street
F Street, between Bank Street and Brundage Lane
S. The boundaries of the districts of lands proposed to be
specially assessed to pay the costs and expenses of such pro-
posed work and improvement are generally defined as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line
of Brundage Lane and the westerly line of H Street;
running thence northerly along the westerly line
of H Street to the southerly line of Bank Street;
thence westerly along the southerly line of Bank
Street to the easterly line of Oleander Avenue;
thence southerly along the easterly line of
Oleander Avenue to the center line of Brundage
Lane; thence easterly along the center line of
Brundage Lane to the westerly line of H Street
and the point of beginning. All as shown on
"Map of Laguna Square" filed April 24, 1917, in
Book 3 of Maps at page 17, Kern County Records.
4. That the amount and portion of the cost of such proposed
improvement proposed to be paid by the City of Bakersfield
from any source other than Special Assessment upon benefited
property is the cost of all engineering and incidental ex-

pense estimated to be $600.00; the total cost of the storm
drain between Second Street and Brundage Lane, estimated to
be $1250.00, a total of $185o.00.
That the amount and. portion of the cost of such pro-
posed improvement proposed. to be paid by the 71orks Progress
Administration authority is the cost of all construction
labor estimated. to be $3000.00.
S. The statute under which it is proposed to conduct proceed-
ings for the proposed improvement is the Improvement Act of
1911, approved April 7, 1911, and amendments thereto.
