BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY CF RAKE ,S��IELD, 'WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield did on the 15th day of Nay, 1939, pass its Resolution of Intention No. 626, to order the following work to be done, to -inits That the following described portion of an alley, and the lands inc'uded within the boundaries of such portion as described, be abandoned; save and except the perpetual right and ease- ment to use and enjoy any or all of the property described herein, for the pur- pose of constructing, reconstructing, installing, laying, maintaining or repair- ing the following: A sewer line and all of its component parts used or enjoyed in connection therewith; also any other instrumen- talities of sanitation; also water pipes, fire hydrants and appliances for fire protection and all appurtenances thereto belonging; also water pipes and connec- tions for the distribution of a domestic water supply; also any other public system or thing and all of its com- ponent parts which may be used and enjoyed in connection therewith, that the City of Bakersfield may desire to place, or to have placed therein. That portion of the alley running easterly and westerly through Blocks 140 and 141 in the Godey Tract, de- scribed as follows: Beginning at a point in the easterly line of V Street 115.5 feet northerly from the northerly line of 23rd Street, as said streets are laid out and shown on that certain map entitled "Plat of the Godey Tract," filed October 31, 1892, in Book 1 of :flaps, at page 33, Records of Kern County, California; thence easterly and parallel with the northerly line of 23rd Street to the southerly line of the Southern Pacific Company's Railroad Right -of -Way: thence northwesterly along the said southerly line of the Southern Pacific Company's Railroad Right -of -Way to its point of intersection with a line which lies 148.5 feet distant from and parallel with the northerly line of 23rd Street; thence westerly and parallel with the northerly line of 23rd Street to the easterly line of V Street; thence southerly along the easterly line of V Street to the point of beginning. Being a strip of land 33 feet in width, 16y feet on either side of line which lies 132 feet distant from and parallel with the northerly line of 23rd Street between the easterly line of V Street and the southerly line of the Southern Pacific Company's Railroad Right -of- Way. All of the herein proposed work and improvement shall be done in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LAYING OUT, OPENING, EXTENDING, WIDEN- ING, STRAIGHTENING OR CLOS- ING UP, IN WHOLE OR IN PART ANY STREET, SQUARE, LANE, ALLEY, COURT OR PLACE WITH- IN MUNICIPALITIES AND TO CONDEMN AND ACQUIRE ANY AND ALL LAND NECESSARY OR CONVENIENT FOR THAT PUR- POSE," approved March 6, 1889, and the several acts amendatory thereof or supplemental thereto. For further particulars reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention Number 626, on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield.
