HomeMy WebLinkAbout01_Siemon Park Community Meeting City Manager’s Office MEDIA ADVISORY FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Chris Huot Wednesday, August 29, 2012 Administrative Analyst III (661) 326-3775 CITY TO HOLD COMMUNITY MEETING TO DISCUSS AMENITY OPTIONS FOR SIEMON PARK The City of Bakersfield will host a community meeting to present potential options for replacement amenities at Siemon Park on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Howard Nichols Elementary School (3401 Renegade Ave.) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Ward 3 Councilmember Ken Weir is scheduled to be in attendance, as well as staff from various City departments. The existing swimming pool has been dormant since late 2009 due to budget reductions and will require significant repairs to resume operations. Neighborhood residents will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide their input regarding the options to be discussed. The community feedback received at the meeting will be presented to the City Council Community Services Committee members at a subsequent meeting. The presentation will include: • The current status of amenities at Siemon Park • Concepts and options for replacement amenities at Siemon Park • Q&A/Feedback session for citizens to provide input to City staff for future planning of amenities at the park. A similar meeting is planned for Planz Park in the near future.
