A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF
AN APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR
MATCHING STATE FUNDING FOR THREE SPECIFIC
IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AT THE BAKERSFIELD
MUNICIPAL AIRPORT UNDER AIRPORT
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM PROJECT NO. 3 -06-
0323- 016 -2012, ACCEPTING THE ALLOCATION
OF MATCHING STATE FUNDING, AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE
TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
are parties to federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant 3 -06- 0323 - 016 -2012 for
the following three improvement projects at the Bakersfield Municipal Airport: 1. Design
and construction of the southwest hangar taxilane phase 2 access road and
replacement of rotating beacon; 2. Design and engineering for Runway 16 -34 and
taxilane rehabilitation; and 3. Development of an airport pavement management
system; and
WHEREAS, FAA funding provides for 90% of the projects' cost, with a local match
requirement of 10 %; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation, pursuant to the Public
Utilities Code section 21683.1, provides grants of 5.0% of Federal Aviation Administration
grants to airports; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation requires the Bakersfield
City Council to adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of an application for an
AIP Matching grant;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to submit an application for
State AIP matching grant funding, to accept any State AIP matching grant
funding, and to execute any State AIP matching grant with the California
Department of Transportation for AIP Project No. 3 -06- 0323 -016 -2012. o�SAkF9
