A RESOLUTION OF APPLICATION PROPOSING
PROCEEDINGS FOR ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD IDENTIFIED AS ANNEXATION NO. 636
LOCATED ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF TAFT HIGHWAY,
GENERALLY WEST OF STINE ROAD. (WARD 6)
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield desires to propose a change of organization, to wit, the
annexation to the City of Bakersfield of the hereinafter - described territory, pursuant to Section
56654 of the Government Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the proposed annexation territory is within and consistent with the City of
Bakersfield Sphere of Influence boundary; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield agrees to annex the territory located along the north side
of Taft Highway, generally west of Stine Road; and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to serve the territory upon annexation; and
WHEREAS, the property owners of the territory have not consented to annexation; and
WHEREAS, LAFCO conditioned Annexation No. 556 on March 28, 2012, requiring the city to
initiate Annexation No. 636 to eliminate a county island, prior to completing Annexation No. 556;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield that it hereby
finds and determines as follows:
1. That the City of Bakersfield hereby proposes the annexation to the City of
Bakersfield of the territory in Exhibit "A" and shown on map marked Exhibit "B" for
the project attached hereto and made a part of this resolution as though fully set
forth herein, located along the north side of Taft Highway, west of Stine Road.
2. That a plan for providing services within the affected territory of the proposed
annexation, in accordance with the provisions of Section 56653 of the
Government Code, is marked as Exhibit "C ", attached hereto and made a part
hereof as though fully set forth herein.
3. That this proposal for change of organization, to wit, annexation, is made pursuant
to the Cortese - Knox - Hertzberg Local Government Reorganization Act of 2000, and
it is requested that proceedings be authorized for annexation in accordance
therewith.
4. That the reasons for the proposed change of organization are that the Local
Agency Formation Commission ( LAFCO) has required that the city initiate
annexation of the territory to eliminate the county island created by Annexation
No. 556.
5. That the affected territory will receive municipal services from the City of
Bakersfield, and the City desires to receive tax revenues for benefits given ancVQ(F

6. That this proposed annexation territory and the prezoning therefore was adopted
by the City Council and a notice of exemption for the annexation is determined to
be adequate for the annexation proposal.
7. That the laws and regulations relating to the preparation and adoption of a notice
of exemption as set forth in the California Environmental Quality Act have been
duly followed.
8. That the territory proposed for annexation as described herein has been
determined to be uninhabited pursuant to Section 56046 of the Government
Code.
9. That the territory proposed for annexation as described herein has been
determined not to have 100% of property owners consenting to annexation.
10. That the territory proposed for annexation as described herein is within the City of
Bakersfield Sphere of Influence Boundary.
11. That the names of the officers of the City of Bakersfield who are to be furnished
with copies of the Executive Officer's Report and who are to be given mailed
Notice of Hearing, if any, are:

ANNEXATION No. 636
TAFT HWY. NO. 1
TO THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
Those portions of land located in the Southeast quarter of Section 34,
Township 30 South, Range 27 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian in the
County of Kern, State of California, more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at the Southwest corner of said Southeast quarter of
Section 34; thence South 89 104'33" East along the South line of said
Section 34 also being the centerline of Taft Highway (State Route VI -KER-
119) a distance of 660.61 feet; thence departing said South line and
centerline North 00 031'03" East a distance of 30.00 feet to the North right
of way of said Taft Highway also being a point on the existing City of
Bakersfield corporate boundary and the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING;
Thence along the existing City of Bakersfield corporate boundary the
following three courses;
Thence (1) continuing North 00 °31'03" East a distance of 1288.13 feet to
the South line of Tract 6290 Unit 3 per map recorded October
30, 2006 in Map Book 56 at Page 131 and a South line of Tract
6290 Unit 1 per map recorded December 13, 2005 in Map
Book 54 at Page 92;
Thence (2) South 89 003'39" East along said South lines a distance of
661.04 feet to a West line of said Tract 6290 Unit 1 and the
West line of Tract 6290 Unit 4 per map recorded July 31, 2007
in Map Book 58 at Page 58;
Thence (3) South 00032'11 " West along said West line of Tract 6290 Unit
1 and 4 a distance of 1287.96 feet to the said North right of
way line of Taft Hwy.;
Thence (4)
North 89 °04'33" West along said North right of way a distance
of 660.61 feet to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING.
