For Immediate Release January 3, 2013
The City of Bakersfield Animal Control Division would like to invite the
community to ring in the new year with providing your pets with rabies
vaccinations and licensing.
On Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the City of
Bakersfield Animal Control Division, along with Kern County Animal
Control, will be offering low cost rabies vaccinations and licensing at the
Park at Riverwalk, 10012 Stockdale Highway. Free microchips will also be
offered to all currently licensed dogs. The microchip cost is $10.00 for
dogs without a current license.
The electronic microchip effort is a program focused on reducing the
number of impounded animals entering the shelter system and is becoming
the preferred form of animal and owner identification.
The City of Bakersfield Animal Control Division’s goal is to lessen the
possibility of animals with microchips entering the shelter.
For more information on this event, please contact the City of Bakersfield
Animal Control Division Supervisor, Tammy Davis at 661-326-3434.
