For Immediate Release February 13, 2013
The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in reporting
suspicious activity.
Due to the drastic increase in copper wire thefts of City of Bakersfield property, the
Bakersfield Police Department urges the community to contact the police department
when individuals are seen near city park street lights or other city locations where
copper wire is present.
The Bakersfield Police Department requests community members to be attentive to
suspicious activity in not only remote and secluded locations, but common areas that
contain copper wire. These areas include city parks, streets and housing
developments.
The Bakersfield Police Department continues to partner with the community to reduce
crime in our area. Please report suspicious activity to the Bakersfield Police
Department at (661) 327-7111.
You can now send an anonymous text message to the Bakersfield Police Department. It’s quick and it’s easy.
Simply enter 274637 into your phone and text BPDCRIMES along with your message. The text is sent to the
police department and the sender remains completely anonymous.
