On Saturday, February 9, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the City of Bakersfield Animal Control Division will be offering low cost rabies vaccinations and a licensing clinic with free microchips to all currently licensed dogs at Jefferson Park, 801 Bernard Street. The cost is $10.00 for dogs without a current license. The electronic microchip effort is a program focused on reducing the number of impounded animals entering the shelter system and is becoming the preferred form of animal and owner identification. The City of Bakersfield Animal Control Division’s goal is to lessen the possibility of animals with microchips entering the shelter.
