RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR TO SUBMIT A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PREPARATION OF A SAFE
ROUTES TO SCHOOL PLAN. (ALL WARDS)
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield is eligible to receive Federal and /or State funding
for certain transportation planning related plans, through the California Department of
Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield intends to apply for a Community -Based
Transportation Planning Grant offered by the California Department of Transportation
(Caltrans) for the preparation of a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Plan; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has been delegated the
responsibility for the administration of this grant program, establishing necessary
procedures; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the California Department of
Transportation require a resolution certifying the approval of grant applications by the
Applicants' governing board before submission of said applications to the State; and
WHEREAS, a Fund Transfer Agreement is needed to be executed with the California
Department of Transportation before such funds can be claimed through the
Transportation Planning Grant Programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield wishes to delegate authorization to execute these
agreements and any amendments thereto;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD:
1. Approves the filing of applications for the Community -Based Transportation Planning
Grant offered by the California Department of Transportation for the preparation of
a Safe Routes to School Plan.
2. Authorizes the Community Development Director, or designee, to execute all Fund
transfer Agreements and any amendments thereto with the California Department
of Transportation.
