For Immediate Release April 1, 2013
The Bakersfield Police Department continues to aggressively pursue the issue of
vehicle burglaries and thefts from vehicles in the City of Bakersfield.
During the month of March, Detectives from the Auto Burglary Detail worked in
conjunction with the Grand Theft Auto Task Force and our Crime Analysis Unit to
conduct several undercover operations in an effort to combat a recent increase in
reported vehicle burglaries and thefts from vehicles.
The operation proved a huge success with the recovery of two stolen vehicles, in
addition to numerous arrests, including thirteen felony arrests, twenty-six misdemeanor
arrests, eleven citations and seven impounded vehicles.
The Bakersfield Police Department is proactively pursuing the issue of vehicle
burglaries and thefts in our community and will continue to forcefully combat these
crimes through education and enforcement.
