The Bakersfield Police Department Crime Prevention Unit would like to
remind the community to be vigilant in researching unfamiliar organizations
prior to donating money.
It is not uncommon for individuals to take advantage of others, even after a
tragedy, such as the Boston Marathon Explosion, for financial gain. The
Bakersfield Police Department would like to remind the community to be
cautious when providing money to fundraising efforts for any noble cause.
It is imperative that individuals are careful when clicking on links associated
with unfamiliar websites, as well. It can be difficult to determine the intent
of the website operator, so researching each webpage is key to prevent
oneself from becoming the victim of a scam.
You can now send an anonymous text message to the Bakersfield Police Department. It’s quick and it’s easy.
Simply enter 274637 into your phone and text BPDCRIMES along with your message. The text is sent to the
police department and the sender remains completely anonymous.
