HomeMy WebLinkAbout13_04_30 Domestic Violence Arrest 85957 BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police Contact: Michaela Beard Public Information Office 661-326-3803 mbeard@bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release April 30, 2013 On April 30, 2013, at approximately 5:26 a.m., Bakersfield Police Officers responded to the 800 block of 33rd Street for an unknown situation. Upon arrival, officers located a victim of domestic violence. The investigation revealed on April 29, 2013, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Robert Ivan Golthwaite Sr., 24, of Bakersfield, arrived at the victim's residence, whereby an argument ensued. During the dispute, Golthwaite Sr. pushed the victim to the ground and held her down. During the argument, he produced a firearm and threatened to kill the victim. Golthwaite Sr. then struck the victim with the firearm, causing visible injury. Golthwaite Sr. fled the residence; however, returned at approximately 5:00 a.m. on April 30, 2013, at which point he continued to threaten the victim's life. The victim was able to convince Golthwaite Sr. to leave and she contacted law enforcement. Bakersfield Police Officers located Golthwaite Sr. in the 1100 block of McNew Court, where he was taken into custody without incident. During the arrest of Golthwaite Sr., officers located a firearm in his vehicle, which was believed to have been used during the domestic violence incident. The firearm was identified as an airsoft pistol. Golthwaite Sr. was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for aggravated assault, spousal abuse, and criminal threats.
