On May 3rd and 4th 2013, six Bakersfield Police canine teams competed in the annual
Sierra K9 Trial in Tulare, California. The scenarios consisted of building and area
searches, apprehension, obedience, and narcotics detection. The competition drew
approximately thirty-eight canine teams from law enforcement agencies throughout
California. The Bakersfield Police Department is proud to announce the
accomplishments of the following officers and their canine partners who placed in the
competition:
• Officer Burich and his canine partner, Roscoe
1st Place in Obedience
1st Place Building Search
1st Place Overall
1st Place Team
• Officer Jones and his canine partner, Rico
2nd Place Protection
1st Place Team
• Officer Haskins and his canine partner, Rex
2nd Place in Building Search
• Senior Officer Lynn Martinez and her narcotics canine partner, Harley
3rd Place in Narcotics Building Search
• Officer Calvillo and his canine partner, Konan
