The Bakersfield Police Department has completed its investigation regarding a patient
who sexually assaulted another patient at the Rehabilitation Center of Bakersfield,
located at 2211 Mount Vernon Avenue. The report was sent to the Kern County District
Attorney’s Office for review for a sexual assault charge.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call Detective Don
Cegielski of the Child Abuse Sexual Assault Detail at 326-3556 or the Bakersfield Police
Department at (661) 327-7111.
Previous Release May 16, 2013
On May 14, 2013, Bakersfield police officers were dispatched to the Rehabilitation
Center of Bakersfield located at 2211 Mt. Vernon Avenue. On arrival officers were told
by staff that a staff member had observed what they thought to be a sexual assault by
one patient on another patient. Bakersfield police detectives were called to the scene
and an investigation into the incident was initiated.
The investigation is on-going and the report will be submitted to the Kern County District
Attorney’s Office for review for a possible criminal complaint when it is completed.
