The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 4300
block of Milo Avenue.
On May 29, 2013, at 5:54 a.m., the Bakersfield Police Department received report of a
Hispanic male, 25, armed with a gun in the 4300 block of Sugarcane Avenue.
At 5:57 a.m., the Bakersfield Police Department received a related call advising there
was an adult female victim bleeding inside a residence in the 4300 block of Milo
Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located the female victim bleeding from a possible gunshot wound,
as well as a three year old child uninjured inside the residence.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
At 7:13 a.m., officers located the suspect in another residence, also in the 4300 block of
Milo Avenue. The firearm has also been recovered.
The investigation revealed the suspect is known to the victim.
The child was taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.
The suspect has been detained and is being interviewed by investigators.
The investigation is continuing.
