A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
ACCEPTING CITY CLERK'S CERTIFICATION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE ELECTION OF
COUNCILMEMBER TO THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE FIRST WARD, IN THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD HELD ON THE 4TH DAY OF JUNE 2013.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Bakersfield does hereby find, determine and declare as follows:
SECTION 1.
A. That pursuant to applicable law, a Special Municipal Election
was held in the City of Bakersfield on the 4th day of June 2013, for the purpose of
electing a Councilmember to fill the unexpired term to the City Council in Ward
1; and
B. Said election was held and conducted in conformity with all
applicable provisions of the law; and
C. That pursuant to the direction of the City Council, the County
Clerk of the County of Kern has conducted a Canvass of Results, attached as
Exhibit "B ", which has been examined and accepted by the City Clerk; and
D. That the City Council does hereby accept the City Clerk's
Certification of the Canvass of Results, attached hereto as Exhibit "A," and does
hereby resolve, determine and declare the results of said Special Municipal
Election for the Office of Councilmember to be as follows:
Ward 1 - P. "Willie" Rivera
E. That the City Clerk does hereby declare the person elected
to the Office of Councilmember in Council Ward 1 shall serve until the successor
is elected and qualified in 2014; and
F. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this Resolution.
