The Bakersfield Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in
identifying a suspect vehicle wanted in connection with a robbery and sexual battery.
On June 16, 2013, at approximately 6:33 a.m., Bakersfield Police responded to the
1400 block of Truxtun Avenue to check the welfare of a female victim. Officers learned
the suspect offered the adult female victim a ride near the 2700 block of Ming Avenue,
to which the victim agreed. During the ride the suspect touched and grabbed the victim
inappropriately numerous times, despite her begging him to stop. The victim pleaded
with the suspect to let her out of the vehicle. The suspect stopped the vehicle on
Chester Avenue south of Truxtun Avenue. When the victim prepared to exit, the
suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and shoved her from the vehicle. The victim held
onto her purse for a brief time as he drove away, before she let go. The victim
sustained minor injuries and sought medical attention.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 35 years of age, 5’10” tall, 230
to 245 lbs., wearing a blue jump suit with a name tag.
The suspect vehicle, pictured in the attached video surveillance photograph, is
described as a large blue van with a light colored or chrome stripe along the side.
