For Immediate Release July 17, 2013
The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in obtaining any
information related to a possible attempted sexual assault and suspicious circumstances.
On July 16, 2013, at approximately 12:21 p.m., Bakersfield Police responded to the 10000 block
of Efada Drive for a reported attempted rape. When officers arrived, they learned an
unidentified Black female, 30 to 35 years of age, with brown eyes, had flagged down a female in
the area and told her she was attacked and sexually assaulted inside a vacant residence in the
10900 block of Efada Drive.
The unidentified female claimed she had been looking at a house in order to purchase it. She
stated upon entering the house an unidentified male attempted to sexually assault her. The
unidentified female drove away in an attempt to locate the suspect.
A few minutes later, the unidentified female returned back to the house and asked the female
she flagged down to enter the residence with her to secure it. This request was declined, at
which time the unidentified female fled the area occupying an older model, silver sedan, similar
to an Oldsmobile.
Officers entered the residence and discovered it was vacant; however, evidence related to
sexual activity was located inside.
The Bakersfield Police Department wants to remind the community to be cautious when
approaching vacant residences and to contact law enforcement regarding suspicious persons
and/or activity. The Bakersfield Police Department is also requesting the possible victim to
come forward and to report the crime.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Bakersfield Police
