The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Mike Strong at 8:00 a.m.

IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Vetter made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of
08/03/16, seconded by Mr. Anderson. The motion was carried unanimously.

V. NEW BUSINESS
A. Review of Special Orders
Mr. Vetter asked why Allan Abney was transferred. Assistant Chief
Martin advised he moved to the Operations Division /Patrol from his
assignment of Special Projects Technology.
B. Job Spec Revisions:
• Animal Control Officer
• Senior Animal Control Officer
Maria Mojica submitted revised job specifications for the positions of
Animal Control Officer #27200 and Senior Animal Control Officer
#0027205. The job specification has not been changed since 2011 for
the Animal Control Officer and 2013 for Senior Animal Control Officer.
Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve the revised job specification for
Animal Control Officer #27200 and Senior Animal Control Officer
#27205; seconded by Mr. Vetter. The motion was carried unanimously.
C. Certification of Detective Eligibility List, Examination #00916
Shayla Woods - Collins submitted an eligibility list of ten candidates to the
Commission for certification. The overall score to be placed on the
eligibility list was 65.23 %.
Human Resources thanked the Police Training staff for their assistance
throughout the recruitment process.
Mr. Anderson made a motion to certify the Detective Eligibility List,
Examination #00916, seconded by Mr. Vetter. The motion was carried
unanimously.
D. Nepotism Waiver Request for Detective Candidates
Shayla Woods - Collins submitted two nepotism waiver requests for
Detective Candidates Isaac Aleman and Scott Lazenby. The nepotism
ruling reports were reviewed and recommended by Assistant Chief Lyle
Martin.
Mr. Vetter made a motion to approve the nepotism waiver requests for
Isaac Aleman and Scott Lazenby, seconded by Mr. Anderson. The
motion was carried unanimously.

E. Certification of Police Sergeant Eligibility List, Examination #00917
Maria Mojica submitted an eligibility list of ten candidates to the
Commission for certification. The overall score to be placed on the
eligibility list was 82.70 %. Mojica advised the updated examination
process went well.
Human Resources thanked Police Department staff as well as the oral
board raters.
Assistant Chief Martin advised he will hold a debriefing in one week to
discuss how the new system worked.
Mr. Anderson made a motion to certify the Police Sergeant Eligibility List,
Examination #00917, seconded by Mr. Vetter. The motion was carried
unanimously.
F. Nepotism Waiver Requests for Police Sergeant Candidates
Maria Mojica submitted two nepotism waiver requests for Police
Sergeant Candidates Matthew Gregory and Nicole Shihrer. The
nepotism ruling reports were reviewed and recommended by Assistant
Chief Lyle Martin.
Mr. Vetter made a motion to approve the nepotism waiver requests for
Matthew Gregory and Nicole Shihrer, seconded by Mr. Anderson. The
motion was carried unanimously.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:12 a.m.
