Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Ken Vetter at 8:00 a.m. II. Roll Call Commissioners Present: Administrative Staff Present: Public Present: III. Public Statements None. Ken Vetter, Chairman Steve Anderson, Secretary Evan Demestihas, Assistant Chief of Police Greg Terry, Assistant Chief of Police Mike Hale, Lieutenant Jason Matson, Lieutenant Richard Iger, Deputy City Attorney Lisa McGranahan, Human Resources Manager Anthony Gonzales, Human Resources Supervisor Maria Mojica, Human Resources Analyst Caryn Claiborne, Human Resources Analyst Isabel Farmer, Human Resources Analyst Paula Kitchen, Secretary IV. Approval of Minutes Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve the minutes of May 3, 2017. The motion was seconded and carried by Mr. Vetter. V. New Business A. Review of Special Orders No comments. B. Certification of Police Computer Forensic Examiner Eligibility List, Examination #00987 Maria Mojica submitted Police Computer Forensic Examiner Eligibility List, Examination #00987, to the Commission for review and approval for certification. She advised there were 7 candidates and 1 vacancy. Maria thanked staff of the Police Department with their assistance during the recruitment process for Police Computer Forensic Examiner. Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve Police Computer Forensic Examiner Eligibility List, Examination #00987; the motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. C. Nepotism Waiver Request from Police Officer Lucy Heredia and Police Officer Aaron Brown Isabel Farmer submitted a nepotism waiver request from Police Officer Lucy Heredia and Police Officer Aaron Brown to cohabitate in the same household. The nepotism waiver report has been reviewed and recommended for approval by Assistant Chief Evan Demestihas. Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve the nepotism waiver request for Police Officer Lucy Heredia and Police Officer Aaron Brown; seconded by Mr. Vetter. The motion was approved and carried. D. Nepotism Waiver Request(s) from Senior Police Officer Chris Dalton and Police Service Technician Calee Prielipp Maria Mojica submitted a nepotism waiver request from Senior Police Officer Chris Dalton and Police Service Technician Calee Prielipp to cohabitate in the same household. The nepotism waiver report has been reviewed and recommended for approval by Assistant Chief Evan Demestihas. Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve the nepotism waiver request for Senior Police Officer Chris Dalton and Police Service Technician Calee Prielipp; seconded by Mr. Vetter. The motion was approved and carried. VI. Commissioner Comments Steven Anderson noted the retirement of Captain Brian Clayton and Lieutenant Dennis West in the Special Orders and confirmed letters of congratulations from the Commissioners would be sent to them; letters were signed and mailed on May 3, 2017. VII. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:04 a.m. POLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE ROOM POLICE DEPARTMENT Minutes July 5, 2017 8:00 a.m. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Ken Vetter at 8:00 a.m. II. Roll Call Commissioners Present: Ken Vetter, Chairman Mike Payne, Board Member Administrative Staff Present: Lyle Martin, Chief of Police Greg Terry, Assistant Chief of Police Jeremy Grimes, Captain Jason Matson, Lieutenant Bobby Woolard, Lieutenant Eric Lantz, Lieutenant Kevin Findley, Sergeant Uriel Pacheco, Sergeant Richard Iger, Deputy City Attorney Anthony Gonzales, Human Resources Supervisor Maria Mojica, Human Resources Analyst Caryn Claiborne, Human Resources Analyst Shayla Woods - Collins, Human Resources Analyst Isabel Farmer, Human Resources Analyst Paula Kitchen, Secretary Public Present: None III. Approval of Minutes Richard Iger made a recommendation to defer the minutes of June 7, 2017, to the next Police Civil Service Meeting since Mr. Payne was not in attendance of that meeting. V. New Business A. Review of Special Orders No comments. B. Certification of Police Service Technician Eligibility List, Examination #00985 Caryn Claiborne submitted Police Service Technician Eligibility List, Examination #00985, to the Commission for review and approval. She advised there were 17 candidates with ties for #4, 9 and 10. She advised there are five openings due to the five Police Service Technicians promoted to Police Trainee currently attending the Police Academy. Caryn thanked staff of the Police Department for their assistance during the recruitment and testing process for Police Service Technician. Mr. Vetter made a motion to approve Police Service Technician Eligibility List, Examination #00985; the motion was seconded by Mr. Payne and carried. C. Nepotism Waiver Request for Police Service Technician Candidate(s) Caryn Claiborne submitted five Nepotism Waiver Requests to the Commission for review and approval for Police Service Technician candidates Alejandra Balandran, Rebekah Fore, Riley Ludeke, Joshua Tristan and Andrew Tsang. She advised the Nepotism Waiver Requests were reviewed and recommended for approval by Chief Lyle Martin. Mr. Payne made a motion for approval of the Nepotism Waiver Requests for Police Service Technician candidates Alejandra Balandran, Rebekah Fore, Riley Ludeke, Joshua Tristan, and Andrew Tsang; the motion was seconded by Mr. Vetter and carried. D. Informational Item: Upcoming Recruitment for Police Trainee Jeremy Grimes informed the Commission the current Police Academy will graduate November 9, 2017 and they anticipate there will still be openings for Police Officers. The Department is looking at beginning advertising and recruitment efforts soon. They will be researching new methods and strategies for recruitment and advertising that haven't been tried in the past in an effort to increase the number of applicants for the next Police Academy.
