C. Job Specification Revision — Senior Police Records Clerk 26460
(S. Woods -Collins, HR and Lieutenant J. Blakemore, PD)
Shayla Woods -Collins submitted revised job specifications for the position of Senior Police
Records Clerk 26460, as a part of the 2018-19 Budget. She advised the Police Department
is increasing the number of Senior Police Records Clerks from two to five. The Police
Department is proposing to revise the minimum qualifications for this position. The
Department feels two years of progressively responsible clerical experience is sufficient for
this position. The Department's other non -sworn position in a lead capacity is Senior
Animal Control Officer which also lists two years of progressively responsible experience.
The revision of the minimum qualification will allow for more employees to be eligible for
this promotional opportunity. If the Commissioners approve the proposed revision,
recruitment for this position will open soon after.
Mr. Lucas requested that in the future, he would like to meet with HR staff prior to the
Police Civil Service meeting to go over changes of proposed language used in job
specification revisions. He would like to check for consistency of structure, clarity and
grammar of future revisions. Richard Iger confirmed this would be acceptable for future job
specification revisions.
Mr. Payne made a motion for approval of Job Specification Revision for the position of
Senior Police Records Clerk - 26460; the motion was seconded by Mr. Lucas and carried
unanimously.
