Adjournment Staff recommends motion to adjourn meeting V V POLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE ROOM POLICE DEPARTMENT Minutes July 11, 2018 8:00 a.m. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Anderson at 8:00 a.m. II. Roll Call Commissioners Present: Administrative Staff Present., III. Public Statements None Steve Anderson Mike Payne Kelly Lucas Evan Demestihas, Assistant Chief of Police Joe Mullins, Captain Jeremy Blakemore, Lieutenant Richard Iger, Deputy City Attorney Anthony Gonzales, Human Resources Supervisor Maria Mojica, Human Resources Analyst Shayla Woods -Collins, Human Resources Analyst Caryn Claiborne, Human Resources Analyst Isabel Farmer, Human Resources Analyst Deanna Frausto, Secretary Paula Kitchen, Secretary IV. Approval of Minutes Mr. Lucas made a motion to approve the minutes of June 6, 2018; the motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried unanimously. V. New Business A. Review of Special Orders No comments. B. Nepotism Waiver Request from Police Officer Macarena Garner and Police Officer Louis Rodriguez (l. Farmer, H.R.) Isabel Farmer submitted a Nepotism Waiver Request to the Commission for review and approval for Police Officer Macarena Garner and Police Officer Louis Rodriguez to live under the same household. She advised the Nepotism Waiver Request was reviewed and approved by Assistant Chief Evan Demestihas, Mr. Lucas made a motion to approve Police Officer Macarena Garner and Police Officer Louis Rodriguez; the motion was seconded by Mr. Payne and carried unanimously. C. Job Specification Revision — Senior Police Records Clerk 26460 (S. Woods -Collins, HR and Lieutenant J. Blakemore, PD) Shayla Woods -Collins submitted revised job specifications for the position of Senior Police Records Clerk 26460, as a part of the 2018-19 Budget. She advised the Police Department is increasing the number of Senior Police Records Clerks from two to five. The Police Department is proposing to revise the minimum qualifications for this position. The Department feels two years of progressively responsible clerical experience is sufficient for this position. The Department's other non -sworn position in a lead capacity is Senior Animal Control Officer which also lists two years of progressively responsible experience. The revision of the minimum qualification will allow for more employees to be eligible for this promotional opportunity. If the Commissioners approve the proposed revision, recruitment for this position will open soon after. Mr. Lucas requested that in the future, he would like to meet with HR staff prior to the Police Civil Service meeting to go over changes of proposed language used in job specification revisions. He would like to check for consistency of structure, clarity and grammar of future revisions. Richard Iger confirmed this would be acceptable for future job specification revisions. Mr. Payne made a motion for approval of Job Specification Revision for the position of Senior Police Records Clerk - 26460; the motion was seconded by Mr. Lucas and carried unanimously. VI. Commissioner Comments No Comments. VII. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:08 a.m.
