The newsletter is a monthly publication highlighting the progress on several key priorities funded by the Measure, including the status of public safety hiring, homelessness reduction efforts, economic development activities and quality of life projects. Read the newsletter here.  A big thanks goes out to several departments that responded quickly to the earthquakes that struck Ridgecrest on July 4th and 5th. Staff from the Bakersfield Police Department, Bakersfield Fire Department, Public Works Department, Development Services Department and City Manager’s Office coordinated and provided mutual aid in response to the events. Staff worked closely with Ridgecrest and County officials to ensure resources were available for immediate response and recovery. Additionally, staff coordinated with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and California Office of Emergency Services to stage equipment and supplies at the City’s municipal airport. Although an emergency of this kind is never desired, City staff is trained and prepared to respond both locally and when mutual aid in other communities is needed.
