4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Payne and carried
unanimously to approve minutes of June 26, 2019, as amended.
5. NEW BUSINESS
a. CERTIFICATION OF POLICE LABORATORY TECHNICIAN, ELIGIBILITY LIST #01192
Tracy Sunkes submitted Police Laboratory Technician Eligibility List, Examination
#01192, to the Commission for review and approval for certification of four
candidates. Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve Police Laboratory
Technician Eligibility List, Examination #01192; the motion was seconded by Mr.
Payne and carried unanimously.

b. CERTIFICATION OF CRIME ANALYST, ELIGIBILITY LIST #01193 - Tracy Sunkes
submitted Crime Analyst Eligibility List, Examination #01193, to the Commission
for review and approval for certification of 12 candidates. Mr. Payne made a
motion to approve Crime Analyst Eligibility List, Examination #01193; the motion
was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried unanimously.
c. NEPOTISM WAIVER REQUEST FOR CRIME ANALYST CANDIDATE(S) - Shayla Woods -
Collins advised there were no nepotism waiver requests for Crime Analyst.
d. CERTIFICATION OF POLICE TRAINEE, ELIGIBILITY LIST#01195-Sandra Duncan
submitted Police Trainee Eligibility List, Examination #01195, to the Commission
for review and approval for certification of 85 candidates, with 21 ties. Mr.
Anderson made a motion to approve Police Trainee Eligibility List, Examination
#01195; the motion was seconded by Mr. Payne and carried unanimously.
e. NEPOTISM WAIVER REQUEST FOR POLICE TRAINEE CANDIDATE(S) - Sandra Duncan
advised that, as a result of the Police Trainee Eligibility List, she is submitting 12
Nepotism Waiver Requests to the Commission for review and approval for
Nicholas Bell, Chase Boyles, Angel Chavez, Aaron Gallegos, Steven Gonzales,
Christopher Green, Austin Martinez, Kylah McMillon, Kevin Mello, James Moore,
William Ryan and Benjamin Samano. She advised the Nepotism Waiver Requests
were reviewed by Assistant Chief Evan Demestihas and he recommends
approval. Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve the nepotism waivers for
Police Trainee candidates; the motion was seconded by Mr. Payne and carried
unanimously.
f. CERTIFICATION OF ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER, ELIGIBILITY LIST #01196 - Sandra
Duncan submitted Animal Control Officer Eligibility List, Examination #01196, to
the Commission for review and approval for certification of 7 candidates. Mr.
Payne made a motion to approve Animal Control Officer Eligibility List,
Examination #01196; the motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried
unanimously.
g. NEPOTISM WAIVER REQUEST FOR ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER CANDIDATE(S) -
Sandra Duncan advised that as a result of the Animal Control Officer Eligibility
List, she is submitting 2 Nepotism Waiver Requests to the Commission for review
and approval for Breanna Alexander and Cristin Green. She advised the
Nepotism Waiver Requests were reviewed by Assistant Chief Evan Demestihas
and he recommends approval. Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve the
nepotism waivers for Animal Control Officer Candidates; the motion was
seconded by Mr. Payne and carried unanimously.
h. CERTIFICATION OF POLICE SERGEANT, ELIGIBILITY LIST #01236 - Rachel Rodriguez
submitted Police Sergeant Eligibility List, Examination #01236, to the Commission
for review and approval for certification of 14 candidates, with ties for #'s 3, 5, 6
and 7. The top score was 96.7 and the low score was 90.25. Mr. Payne made a
motion to approve Police Sergeant Eligibility List, Examination #01236; the
motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried unanimously.
NEPOTISM WAIVER REQUEST FOR POLICE SERGEANT CANDIDATE(S) - Rachel
Rodriguez advised that as a result of the Police Sergeant Eligibility List,

she is submitting 3 Nepotism Waiver Requests to the Commission for review and
approval for Nathan Anderberg, Travis Harless and Ryan McWilliams. She
advised the Nepotism Waiver Requests were reviewed by Assistant Chief Evan
Demestihas and he recommends approval. Mr. Anderson made a motion to
approve the nepotism waivers for Police Sergeant Candidates; the motion was
seconded by Mr. Payne and carried unanimously.
j. NEPOTISM WAIVER REQUEST FROM POLICE OFFICER JENNIFER BASSETT AND
POLICE OFFICER LORENA VAZQUEZ - Isabel Farmer submitted a Nepotism Waiver
Request to the Commission for review and approval for Police Officer Jennifer
Bassett and Police Officer Lorena Vazquez to live under the same household.
She advised the Nepotism Waiver Request was reviewed and approved by
Assistant Chief Evan Demestihas. Mr. Anderson made a motion to approve the
nepotism waiver for Police Officer Jennifer Bassett and Police Officer Lorena
Vazquez; the motion was seconded by Mr. Payne and carried unanimously
k. INFORMATIONAL - TEMPORARY SERGEANT POSITIONS - Jeremy Grimes advised
the Commissioners that the Temporary Sergeant positions discussed at the June
6, 2019 meeting will be extended by 60 days.
