The Miscellaneous Civil Service Board Regular Meeting commenced on March 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., City Hall North, Conference Room A, 1 s' Floor. 1. Approval of Minutes Upon a motion, by Commissioner Tom Darts and seconded by Commissioner Roland Maier, the minutes for January 30, 2020 were APPROVED, ALL AYES. 4. New Business A. Service Maintenance Worker # 13700 Commissioner Nila Hogan, was made to approve the recommendation of the Human Resources Supervisor, Shayla Collins, to approve the Job Specification Revised for Assistant City Attorney #88090. APPROVED, ALL AYES After discussion, a motion, by Commissioner Tom Dorlis and seconded by Commissioner Nila Hogan, was made to approve the recommendation of the Human Resources Supervisor, Shayla Collins, to approve the Job Specification Revised for Service Maintenance Worker #13700. APPROVED, ALL AYES 6. Commissioner's Comments Human Resources Supervisor, Shayla Collins, thanked the Board for attending today's meeting, additionally the Board was advised that the regular meeting of the Misc. Civil Service Commission may be cancelled for the month of April or we may complete a meeting telephonic, keeping all Brown Act rules in mind. 7. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion was made by Commissioner Roland Maier and Seconded by Commissioner Ronald Wolfe to adjourn the meeting at 2:10p.m. APPROVED, ALL AYES. Mr. Cruz went from a regular to a temporary Fleet Mechanic II on March 2, 2020; he is still working and currently in good standing. Mr. Nick Fidler, Public Works Director, and Mr. Mike Vogel, Fleet Superintendent, have been contacted regarding this request. They recommend placing Mr. Cruz on a reinstatement list for Fleet Mechanic II. Should the Board approve this request, Mr. Cruz name will be placed on the Miscellaneous Civil Service reinstatement list for Fleet Mechanic II for the City of Bakersfield for a period of one (1) year. The established reinstatement list may be utilized at the hiring manager's discretion for selection of a final candidate per Miscellaneous Civil Service Rule 6.05 during periods of which vacancies occur within the one (1 ) year period. I don't know if this is true but heard about it and figured I ask, does the City have a policy that if you resigned from your City position but it doesn't work out with your new employer you're able to return to the position you held with the City within a year? Like a safety net? Thank you. v BAKERSFIELD THE SOUND OF5*&J xf161* MEMORANDUM TO: Miscellaneous Civil Service Board FROM: Christi Tenter, Human Resources Director SUBJECT: Reinstatement Request for Luis Velazquez DATE: April 21, 2020 Mr. Luis Velazquez has requested reinstatement to the position of Laborer in the -- eliminated the position Laborer and all of those positions were converted to Facility Worker positions with the City of Bakersfield (see request attached. On February 20, 2018, Mr. Velazquez was hired as a full-time employee as a Laborer in the Recreation and Parks Department. Mr. Velazquez resigned from the City of Bakersfield on July 5, 2019 in good standing. Mr. Darin Budak, Assistant Recreation and Parks Director has been contacted regarding this request and he recommends placing Mr. Velazquez on a reinstatement list for Facility Worker. Should the Board approve this request, Mr. Velazquez name will be placed on the Miscellaneous Civil Service reinstatement list for Facility Worker for the City of Bakersfield for a period of one (1( year.
