City offices will be closed Thursday, December 31 and Friday, January 1 in observance of the New Year holiday. There will be no trash pick-up on New Year’s Day. Curbside trash service will be delayed by one day. B-CARES Update  The year is coming to a close and the City of Bakersfield is proud to announce that as of Wednesday, December 30, the B-CARES Small Business Grant Program awarded $3.76 million to 603 local businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic since launching in September. We are extremely proud of and thankful for the hard work our Staff put in to create and implement the program as well as review these applications under difficult circumstances and over a short timeline. Staff is still reviewing more than 500 applications for grants. The City initially dedicated $3 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding to the B-CARES program, and later upped that total to $5 million in response to demand. The funding is expected to be fully expended by the end of the calendar year as required by the CARES Act. This program is just one example of the City’s dedication to and support of the local business community during the pandemic.
