CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Ms. Thompson at 8:01 a.m. 2. ROLL CALL Commissioners Present. Steven Anderson Kelly Lucas Kathleen Thompson Staff Present. Greg Terry, Chief of Police Brent Stratton, Assistant Chief of Police Jeremy Grimes, Captain Ashley Zambrano, Deputy City Attorney Christi Tenter, Human Resources Director Shayla Woods -Collins, Human Resources Supervisor Sandra Duncan, Human Resources Analyst Paula Kitchen, Civil Service Secretary Via Zoom: Isabel Farmer, Human Resources Analyst Tracy Sunkes, Human Resources Analyst 3. PUBLIC STATEMENTS None 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Mr. Anderson and seconded by Mr. Lucas to approve the minutes for the Special Meeting of April 14, 2021 5. NEW BUSINESS a. CERTIFICATION OF POLICE DIGITAL FORENSICS EXAMINER ELIGIBLE LIST, EXAMINATION #01468 - On behalf of Isabel Farmer, Shayla Woods -Collins submitted Police Digital Forensics Examiner Eligible List, Examination #01468 to the Commission for review and certification of 12 candidates. Mr. Lucas made a motion to certify Police Digital Forensics Examiner Eligible List #01468; the motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried unanimously. b. NEPOTISM WAIVER REQUEST(S) FOR POLICE DIGITAL FORENSICS EXAMINER CANDIDATE(S) - On behalf of Isabel Farmer, Shayla Woods -Collins advised that as a result of the Police Digital Forensics Examiner List, she is submitting one Nepotism Waiver Request to the Commission for review and approval for candidate Candace Achtman. Ms. Collins advised the Nepotism Waiver ACTION TAKEN APPROVED APPROVED APPROVED request was reviewed by Assistant Chief Mike Hale and he recommends approval. Mr. Lucas made a motion to approve the Nepotism Waiver for Police Digital Forensics Examiner candidate Candace Achtman; the motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried unanimously. C. CERTIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER - ACADEMY GRADUATE/LATERAL ELIGIBLE LIST, EXAMINATION #01410A - Sandra Duncan submitted Police Officer - Academy Graduate/Lateral Eligible List, Examination #01410A to the Commission for review and certification of 6 candidates. Mr. Anderson made a motion to certify Police Officer - Academy Graduate/Lateral Eligible List #01410A; the motion was seconded by Mr. Lucas and carried unanimously. d. NEPOTISM WAIVER REQUEST(S) FOR POLICE OFFICER - ACADEMY GRADUATE / LATERAL CANDIDATE(S) - Sandra Duncan advised that as a result of the Police Officer - Academy Graduate/Lateral Eligible List, she is submitting one Nepotism Waiver Request to the Commission for review and approval for Police Officer- Academy Graduate/Lateral candidate Moises Contreras. Ms. Duncan advised the Nepotism Waiver Request was reviewed by Assistant Chief Mike Hale and he recommends approval. Mr. Lucas made a motion to approve the Nepotism Waiver for Police Officer- Academy Graduate/Lateral candidate Moises Contreras; the motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried unanimously. 6. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS Mr. Lucas confirmed the date for a Special Meeting to be held June 7, 2021. Ms. Thompson acknowledged and offered congratulations to six employees who recently retired from the Police Department. 7. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 a.m. ACTION TAKEN APPROVED APPROVED
