A RESOLUTION BY THE KERN RIVER GROUNDWATER SUSTAINABILITY
AGENCY (KRGSA) THAT APPLICATION BE MADE TO THE CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES (DWR) TO OBTAIN A GRANT
UNDER THE 2021 SUSTAINABLE GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT (SGM)
GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, DWR is administering the SGM Grant Program using funds
authorized by the California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection,
and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2018 (Proposition 68) and the California Budget
Act of 2021; and
WHEREAS, DWR will provide over $150 million by spring 2022 to regional
groundwater agencies in critically overdrafted basins for planning and
implementation projects to help comply with the Sustainable Groundwater
Management Act (SGMA); and
WHEREAS, KRGSA is coordinating with all Groundwater Sustainability
Agencies in the Kern subbasin to complete and submit an application, and
WHEREAS, DWR requires a resolution to be adopted by the applicant's
governing body designating an authorized representative to submit the
application and execute and agreement with the State of California for a SGM
Grant; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the KRGSA as follows:
The above recitals and findings are true and correct and are
incorporated herein by reference.
2. that an application be made to the DWR to obtain a grant under the
2021 SGM Grant Program SGMA Implementation Grant pursuant to
the California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection,
and Outdoor Access For All Act of 2018 (Proposition 68) (Pub.
Resource Code, § 80000 et seq.) and the California Budget Act of
2021.
3. That the Board Chair of the KRGSA or his designee (including the
Executive Director Kern Groundwater Authority) is hereby authorized
and directed to prepare the necessary data, conduct investigations,
file such application, and execute a grant agreement and any future
amendments (if required), submit invoices, and submit any reporting
requirements with DWR.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted
by the Kern River Groundwater Sustainability Agency on February 3, 2022.
