At present, I have been a Police Lieutenant for 32 months (9 months as an acting Lieutenant and 23 months as a Lieutenant). I have completed P.O.S.T. Management School. During the time I was an acting Lieutenant. I acted with the full authority of a BPD Lieutenant, with all the responsibilities associated with the rank. California P.O.S.T. does not recognize acting time when calculating the two years required to apply for the P.O.S.T. Management Certificate. so I will not yet be allowed to apply for my Management Certificate until 10/25/23. Based on these facts, I am requesting a waiver so that I may participate in the testing process for Assistant Police Chief.
