MEMORANDUM +s;

To: Civil Service Commission
From: Officer Brandon Price
Date: March 12, 2024
Subject: Application for waiver of minimum qualifications, Senior Police Officer
I am respectfully submitting this memorandum to formally request a waiver for one of the
minimum qualifications regarding the testing process of Senior Police Officer. One of the
minimum standards for the testing process is, the applicant must have worked the last two years
at the Bakersfield Police Department.
In January 2022, my family and I made the decision to move out of state and start a new chapter
in our lives. We moved to Casper Wyoming, where I began work as a Police Officer. Prior to this
move, I had been a sworn Police Officer for the City of Bakersfield since August of 2018.
While in Wyoming, my family and I realized that Bakersfield was in -fact our home, and we
decided to move back. I applied for re -instatement to the Bakersfield Police Department and
was graciously awarded the honor on August 15t, 2022. 1 was fortunate enough to pick-up almost
right where I had left off.
Prior to my departure, I was a member of the S.W.A.T. team, assigned to the Traffic Detail, and
worked as an F.T.O. Since my return, 1 have been re -selected as a member of the S.W.A.T. team,
assigned to the traffic detail, been selected for the Traffic M.C.I.T ( Major Collision and
Investigation Team), F.T.O, and A Life Interrupted presenter.
I believe my training and experience at the Bakersfield Police Department would be very useful
at the position of Senior Police Officer. As it stands, my last two years with the department
won't be complete until August 15Y, 2024. Therefore, I am requesting a waiver of the minimum
qualification "The last two years with the Bakersfield Police department", as I meet all the other
qualifications.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Officer Brandon Price
